Which song is it?
Which song is it?
"Free yourself from the past you lived in
(...)
Free yourself from everything that suffocates you
Everything that prevents you from being able to fly"
No, it's not a self-help book. It's not Paulo Coelho. We all know this is Meneghel, Xuxa (1982).
Okay, the year must be wrong. I think it was closer to the 90s. But you get my point.
In Brazil, we've been listening to, singing, and dancing to this for years, but when are we really going to start practicing what we'd really like to practice?
You know those cartoons that show the prisoner with an iron ball stuck to his foot? In life, sometimes we go to the store, buy the ball, attach it to our foot, and throw away the key so we have a nice excuse not to get out of prison.
These are things we know we don't need. But how do we let go? We get used to the weight of the ball there. It's comfortable, isn't it?
I'm sure it's even more so without the iron ball.
PS 1:
Of course, some selection of what we listened to in childhood needs to be considered. I'm still not really wanting to process the "after nine months you'll see the result" part (lyrics of "Segura o tchan", by "É o Tchan"), despite the social pressures to do so. It's always good to be able to have discernment.
PS 2:
If you know songs from your country or culture that you'd like to share with me, please, do! I love music, I love songs with a great meaning.
